GENERAL OVERVIEW
This position is part of the Instrument, Control and Electrical team that provides maintenance and technical support to the Production, Mechanical and Project teams in the LNG Terminal. This position is responsible for establishing, reviewing and overseeing the relevant instrument & control design of newly build or modified equipment including implementation of minor instrument and control engineering projects, while ensuring the overall technical integrity of the terminal from the instrument & control (I&C) discipline perspective.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical expertise and support to the Production and Maintenance teams for instrumentation and control-related issues
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to reduce instrument maintenance costs and enhance system availability and performance
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including government agencies, to ensure compliance in areas such as gas pipeline networks, electrical power grid interfaces, and metering systems
- Prepare, review, and update maintenance procedures for instruments, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), fire and gas systems, Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESDs), metering systems, Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), and security devices
- Conduct root cause analysis of instrument-related incidents and recommend effective preventive and corrective actions
- Manage and execute Management of Change (MOC) projects aimed at improving instrument reliability and resolving operational challenges
- Ensure proper verification, inspection, testing, and certification of electrical and instrument equipment used in hazardous areas of the terminal, with accurate reporting to management
- Support the planning and execution of major maintenance turnarounds and shutdowns
- Manage the functional safety lifecycle of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) in accordance with industry standards
- Support terminal expansion projects by ensuring system integrity, seamless integration with existing plant infrastructure, and identification of opportunities for optimisation
- Participate in emergency response activities and assume assigned responsibilities as part of the terminal’s emergency preparedness framework
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent
- Professional accreditation, certification or membership with engineering bodies is advantageous
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in instrumentation and control design and maintenance, preferably in oil and gas or petrochemical industries
- In-depth knowledge of international engineering design standards for electrical and instrumentation systems, and familiarity with local regulatory codes and submission procedures
- Experience with the functional safety lifecycle for process industries in accordance with IEC 61511 an added advantage
- Strong background in installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex electrical, instrument, and control systems in large-scale industrial facilities
